Good news!! Turbo-Tuner now supports 850 T5s which have had the transmission swapped from auto to manual 5 speed. So now you won't get a CEL :)

Can you elaborate on this?  Is there a software update so that the end user can turn it on and off, or is it something built into the ECU?

Currently it's built into the ECU, hence why you need to specify at the time of ordering. When time allows, I will look at developing a more user-friendly way of addressing the issue. However for now, this is a good working solution.

Does OBD-II functionality still work?

Once the units are tested in the US we can say for certain.  The functionality should be there, but the question is will it be compliant with the smog gurus.

Awesome. I hope they work, haha.

What do you mean by compliancy? For OBD-II related smogging, my last smog check all they did was verify if any DTC codes were present, and they monitored engine RPM through OBD-II. Even then OBD-II didn't communicate with their machine, probably due to the reflash, but somehow they didn't care. Is there more to this?

Under those circumstances there will be no issues.  It should be able to fully interface with the Volvo diagnostic tool that plugs into the OBDII plug in the console.  We want to be sure that all works too.

Even though the Volvo 850 platform has an "OBD" connector they are really not "OBD" compliant. A truely OBD compliant vehicle will keep its readyness monitor status in memory when the key is turned off, luckly for us when the key is turned off on a Volvo with Motronic 4.3 all monitors are reset to incomplete this is why these cars must be tail pipe tested. If said vehicle has no pending or hard codes stored in is memory and passes the tail pipe test it's good to go!  ;)

Wait...are you building this capability into all new TT units???  Or just if I specify...I got a 4.4 unit on the road and didn't know I had to specify that I might want to swap over in the future...

It's not an issue for M4.4.

Actually, it's no longer an issue for M4.3 either!
