Hello from Vancouver, BC
« on: August 08, 2010, 07:32:02 AM »
Ok, it's time - I loved MS on my old 245, so it's time to start that path on the Yellow...
I'm pretty excited about this to be honest...my goals are modest, I'm not doing a built motor or anything super crazy like that, but I really do like having the control.

My current car is a 95 T5-R Yellow Wagon - Pretty much my favorite car of all time...
My current set up is:18t,r-mani, 3" custom DP, EST 2.5 Cat back, IPD Stage III tune, MBC @ 15psi, RIP Kit, Sconeman Post Maf goodness, IPD plug wires, MSD ignition,IPD Short Ram intake, IPD Sways, Koni FSD's with Eibachs, 18" pegs, M56H with Quaife LSD and short shifter plate
Hopefully I will hear back soon from CJ about what the next steps are.

Welcome!

Nice Wagon!

You'll enjoy working with TT, it's certainly much simpler to setup than MS!

Welcome Volvoluving,

Just a short question, with IPD Stage III, you still need the MBC for 15 psi ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "still need the MBC for 15psi"...

Well, the Stage II map should be able to produce 15psi (1.05 Bars) off the ECU itself without any external help. Is it not ?

Oh, so you're asking me why am I running the MBC instead of the stock CBV?

You are correct ... :D

Maybe I need to add the reasons why..... I've actually tested a few ECUs from those renowned companies and I think they are very conservative with their tunes. So IPD is not an exception unless in your case, the standard BCS does the job.

Could be that those are off-the-shelf maps without customisation. That being said, are there any custom tunes that make do with the standard BCS without EBC or MBC, making 1.3 bars ?

I get it all now - My reasons were more that my BCS, (sorry not CBC), was toast, and the the IPD HD version, does not work on the early 850's.  I also like being able to control my boost, keeps me from being silly all the time...The IPD stage 3 will go as high as 17-18, but I like to run conservative...I'm very excited about trying out the TT to see what type of characteristics I can gain/lose against the IPD tune, (which I am very happy with).

I think the TT would come out being the winner over here. FYI I have the T5-Gul too. However the rims are 17" Titans and all else standard trim. Will post some pictures after i downsize them from my 50-D.

All the best.
