How to do a CLEAN USB INSTALL
« on: July 03, 2009, 08:20:50 AM »
I thought I would post this here for those of you looking for a cleaner install of the Turbo Tuner USB cable.  This will eliminate the need to open and close your hood for tuning, and keep the ECU box closed at all times.  The following are some pictures of my install, and most that order the cable will be pretty much identical.

The pictured cable is a USB "B" extension cable, gold plated.  On one end is a male, left angled B connection, and the other end is a female B extension.  The former is used to connect into the USB port on your TT ECU inside the ECU box, and the latter sits inside the passenger (US) or driver (UK) side of the car under the dash, and is there to connect your TT supplied USB cable into.

I've used that cable a few times already with the supplied TT USB cable connected to it, and the data transmission has been spot-on, and as fast as it was with just the normal cable, so I don't foresee any issues with that.  The only consideration you may want to give is some type of protection from the heat in the engine compartment, although I don't foresee that being too much of an issue.

Also, when installing, you'll have to install from the inside of the car, towards the outside, since the B extension side is so large and may not fit through the factory pass-through.

The following company is the only company I could find with such a cable, and I'm not sure about their international shipping policy, so look into that before ordering!

You will want to order:
Left Angle B Male to B Female (Panel Mount) - 36"
PART# RR-BBL01-36G

It is 36 inches in length, which you see is perfect for the US installs.  It goes for $15.10 plus shipping.
